Hey everybody, it’s Scott Galden from Simmons Floor Covering Total Renovations, and we’re about to hand the keys back over to the Holmes on their not-so-new but completely remodeled house. So, this is Mitch and Norah K, and we’ll give you some ideas about the process we went through and show you some reveals. So, guys, tell us a little bit about how you got the idea of renovating your house.

Holmes House History: This is a 35-year-old house, and when we bought it 26 years ago, it was about 10 years old and had been sorely abused. At that time, we were barely able to afford it, but we got into it and raised our kids here. Now that they’re gone, the house needed renewal. In fact, it’s more like a complete renewal than just a remodel.

Before the project, we had some thoughts and dreams about it. The kitchen was too small, and we wanted more space to accommodate our family. So, we rearranged the layout and made the kitchen bigger, allowing all four of us to be in there comfortably. Mitch encouraged me to pick top-of-the-line products for the kitchen, and we ended up with some great appliances like the fancy hood vent, the adventium oven, and the convection oven/air fryer.

For the countertops, we chose quartz, and for the backsplash, we found a green-colored one with a lovely texture, matching our accent color theme. The lights in the kitchen remind us of a trip to Santa Fe, and we really love them. We also repainted the cabinets in a more modern color.

The coffee bar area was originally an old-fashioned wet bar, and we transformed it into a practical and trendy coffee bar with quartz countertops.

In the master bathroom, we tore out the old garden tub and installed a freestanding tub. We refurbished the cabinets, added quartz countertops, and painted the walls with a beautiful greenish-gray color.

For the guest bathroom, we replaced the tub with a more modern, squared one. Carrera marble look tiles with a deco design were used for the walls, and we also added quartz countertops and a new commode.

In the family room, we had an issue with choosing the right green color for the walls, but with Becca’s help, we finally settled on a lovely greenish-beige that looks great with the white accents.

The hallway got a wood floor to handle the heavy traffic. In the office area, we opted to skip French doors to maintain an open feel.

In the hallway bathroom, we did a complete remodel with new quartz countertops, tub, commode, and a fresh shower surround.

Overall, the renovation process has been enjoyable, and we’re pleased with the results. Thanks to Becca’s color consultation and Scott’s recommendations, we made great decisions in creating our dream home.
